Children, pregnant and breastfeeding women have different needs than adults. When taking an omega-3 supplement, it is not only about the concentrations of the active ingredients EPA and DHA, but also about their ratios. While adults need a balanced ratio of both EPA and DHA, for children it is mainly DHA that is crucial. In children with a deficiency of omega-3 or DHA, there is a danger that the development of central nervous system functions will not be normal and that improper psychomotor development, including a reduction in intelligence quotient, may occur. DHA is a key substance for ensuring the normal development of the central nervous system and therefore for the proper functioning of the brain, cognitive functions, motor skills, memory and also the visual system.
The KIDS Omega 3 product is particularly suitable for children for whom supplementation with either vitamin D3 or K2, which are contained in the other children's product, is not recommended (newborns) or not necessary. It may therefore be a suitable option for the summer months, for example, when we usually spend more time outdoors and the sunlight at the right angle allows us to absorb vitamin D through the skin and, unlike omega-3, it is not necessary to supplement during this period.
